Ottawa Street in Hamilton, Ontario is known for it’s home decor and textile
outlets. The street is lined with fabric and textile shops, art galleries,
restaurants, and antique parlors. Sounds beautiful? Well it is! It’s incredible
really. I spent one day on Ottawa street browsing through antique stores that held
many, many treasures. I couldn’t believe the things that had been collected and
recycled. It was very neat. Had I lived in the area and had more money I’d be
decorating my house with antiques from Ottawa st..

We stopped at a neat coffee shop on the corner of Ottawa and
Cannon, called ‘The Cannon’. These girls made
wonderful tea/scones and served great coffee. The catch is that they aren’t yet
licensed. Therefore they were offering all of this greatness and then 'suggesting'
a price.
A nice option for people who perhaps don’t have much to offer in return
but would like a warm and delicious beverage.

Also on Ottawa streets (on a separate occasion) there was an
event held. This event is called “Sew Hungry” where multiple trucks from local
restaurant and food industries come out and park on the street. There were
thousands of people out. We lucked out and the weather was absolutely perfect –
actually a bit hot. There were local markets, bands and many local people out
enjoying the day. Very neat to see.
